A little about me. I emigrated to the United States from the United Kingdom in 2005 to settle in Georgia.
Most of my working life was in the British military, and it was a posting to the Mediterranean island of Cyprus that started the love affair with photography - not for any valid reason other than the fact that the x-ray darkroom was the coolest place in the hospital, so anyone with a modicum of sense went out and bought a camera so that they could spend off duty hours in a cool darkroom. After a couple of wrong camera choices with Miranda and Yashica I discovered Canon and have used both Canon film and digital cameras ever since.
My mentor was one Paul RG Haley, a civilian Ministry of Defense photographer on the staff of Soldier magazine (the British equivalent of the Stars and Stripes). Paul took the time and trouble to teach me so much about photography, and was equally generous in providing darkroom and studio time at Soldier’s editorial offices, and I am happy to say that we have remained firm friends over the years. He has just received his Fellowship of the Master Photographers Association and now devotes his time to training photographers who are considering a career in professional photography. You can see his web site at www.prgh.co.uk.
